Wriggle into the World of Hungry Compost Worms this Nature Book Week!
This Nature Book Week, wriggle, giggle, and celebrate the enchanting blend of nature and narrative with the fun, new nature book, “Harriet’s Hungry Worms”.
The activities can be downloaded and ran any time during Nature Book Week, from 4-10 September:

This funny, engaging eco story invites young readers to follow the adventures of Harriet’s ravenous compost worms as they munch their way through their wide and wonderful weekly menu. Packed with worm facts, Harriet’s Hungry Worms is the ideal companion for worm warriors and curious composters keen to roll their sleeves up and put their kitchen food scraps to good use.
- Teacher’s Treats: Download a set of fun and free teacher notes, and let your eco warriors dive deeper into the themes, lessons, and wonders of this delightful nature book.
- Colour Me Wormy: Unleash your eco-warrior’s colourful imagination with downloadable colouring sheets inspired by the nature book’s whimsical illustrations. Send a photo of your work of art to author, Samantha Smith (via email – hello@samanthasmith.com). Samantha, Harriet and the worms will then award one winning artwork a signed copy of the book, a limited edition bookmark and a fabulous Carrot Grow Kit by Gardening 4 Kids to get out and be enjoyed in nature. Entries must be emailed by 11.59pm on Monday 11 September to take part. The winner will be announced on Tuesday 12 September.
